When both sides win!

  Posted on 8 February 2016

The existence of a North-South divide in the UK is fiercely contested.  In concept it is rather like a version of Il Mezzogiorno – the dividing line between Northern and Southern regions of the Italian Peninsula. (Find out more about the Italian divide).  It assumes that there is a distinct and significant difference between two sides of a country, whether economically, politically or culturally.  And, depending on which side of the ‘divide’ you happen to be, decides your view as to which side is best. (Read more about the North-South debate).

Level Playing Field

People can get really exercised by this concept, and arguments can rage as to where any UK dividing line occurs, if it exists at all.  Research can be rolled out to prove or disprove the theory, and seemingly unrelated facts are used as a corollary.

Yet, at Purcell, we are doing our best to disprove this idea of a divide.  Being a London-based company, you might assume we would be focussed on London and the Home Counties, but that is certainly not the case.  We are loud and proud of the fact that we have great clients in the Midlands, Northern England and Scotland.   We have just uploaded a case study of one of these clients.  Read The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust case study

More alike than unalike!

Fundamentally, we know that there is common ground amongst all our clients, north or south, big or small, and in whatever business sector – they all need the very best advice, and efficient business communications.  Which is what we do.  So, it’s a good start, focussing on how we have the same aims and ambition to get the best, whatever and wherever we are.  It was Jimmy Carter, the American President and peace negotiator,  who said that unless both sides win, no agreement can be permanent.  (Read more about the Carter Centre). A salutary thought.

CARPS Gets a Warm Reception in Chile Chile, as you may well know, is a country of great variety and home to many surprising wonders of the world: the mysterious stone heads at Easter Island, the world’s oldest mummy (the scary kind, not the nice kind), and both the driest place on earth (The Atacama Desert) and the world’s largest swimming pool, to name but a few. It is also regarded as the most developed country in South America, having overtaken Argentina in the Human Development Index report for 2016. As of June 2017 however, Chile has a new claim to fame as the first Latin American country to use the CARPS task management system!

Feeling the Love!

Having canvassed our customers’ opinions on the launch of our new website in August last year, we were delighted with the response. 33.3% found it extremely appealing, 50% found it very appealing and 16.7% found it only slightly appealing. This is a lesson to us all that when it comes to subjective aesthetics, that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
